Terms of use

Template terms for an operator to adapt. They are not legal advice and have not been reviewed by a lawyer.

1. What this service is

Versus lets you make a voluntary payment that increases the publicly displayed score of one side of a two-sided contest. The contest is decorative: it determines only which name is displayed as the winner on this website.

2. What you receive

In exchange for a contribution you receive the increase to the chosen side's public score, and optional display of a name in the activity feed. You receive no other goods, services, entitlements, or rights.

3. No winnings, prizes, or payouts

There is no prize pool. Supporters of the winning side receive nothing. No part of any contribution is returned to any supporter as a result of any outcome. Contributions are not stakes, entries, wagers, or investments, and confer no financial interest of any kind.

4. Legal classification

We make no representation about how the law of your country, state, or territory classifies this service. Rules covering payments, promotions, contests, and gaming differ by jurisdiction and change over time. You are responsible for ensuring your use is lawful where you are. The operator should obtain independent legal advice for every market it serves before launch, and take its own view on age restrictions, spend limits, and any licensing or registration that may apply.

5. Contributions are final

Contributions are final once the payment is confirmed and are not refunded on request. See payment & refunds for the two exceptions, both of which cover money that was never counted toward a score.

6. Results

The winner is the side with the higher confirmed total at the moment the 100-day timer reaches zero, as recorded by the server. Once a battle is finalised the result is frozen and will not be changed. If both sides finish exactly level, the battle is recorded as a dead heat with no winner.

7. Conduct

Display names are public. We may remove or refuse any that are unlawful, abusive, impersonating, or otherwise inappropriate, without refunding the contribution.

8. Availability and changes

We may pause or cancel a battle if we have to, for example after a technical fault or a legal requirement. A cancelled battle has no winner, and we will contact contributors about refunds where appropriate.

9. Liability

The service is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to a contribution is limited to the amount of that contribution.
